Study of deterioration in golden coppers Moches and Vicús
The corrosion process of a piece of gold copper starts from its manufacture, when gold, copper and / or silver come together causing a galvanic reaction. During the burial, the deterioration process continues, as well as when being excavated due to their constant exposure to different conditions of relative humidity, temperature, oxygen levels and contamination.
This part of the project proposes to identify how these corrosive processes proceed and to propose strategies for the conservation of Moche and Vicús golden metals in the face of various adverse environmental conditions.
